Biography

After studying Sociology, Arici moved into photography, specialising in the cultural arena with theatre and portraits. 1980 marked the start of his long-standing work with Venice's La Fenice Theatre , covering the complete range of their artistic activity in addition to the architectural and ornamental aspects of the theatre itself. Arici has photographed all of the artistic and cultural events in Venice, from the various Biennales, performances, concerts and important exhibitions. 1981 and 1982 saw him engaged in detailed coverage of the work of Emilio Vedova, then Jim Dine in 1988. In 1984 he was personal photographer for Luigi Nono at the world première of "Prometeo" in Venice. Palazzo Grassi took him on in 1985 to document all the exhibition designs.

The 18th Biennale Art exhibition followed, and using 400 photographs, Arici put together a video illustrating the work of the artists during the preparatory stages. He was in Berlin in 1989 at the time the Wall was coming down. In 1989 Arici produced an ample photogra-phic coverage of the "Eresia Catara" in the south of France, and also documented the life and artistic treasures of the Ghetto of Venice. In 1990-1991 Arici worked as still photo-grapher on E. Reitz's film "Die zweite Heimat". Changes in the great artistic cities of ex East Germany were the subject of his 1994 coverage. Between 1995 and 1996 he travelled to Bosnia and Sarajevo on numerous occasions to investigate cultural activities during the war and the situation of Bosnian cinema. He also visited Istria during this period to cover the Italian community in Croatia and Slovenia. In January 1996 he was the first to photograph the fire at La Fenice Theatre. In the 1998 founded Rosebud, the first on-line news service to provide cultural images. From 2000 he's made many reportages about the archaeological sites in Venice lagoon. In 2007 he open the Graziano Arici Photogallery in Second Life.

He has been represented by the Grazia Neri Agency in Milan since 1980. His photographs and services have appeared in the world's most important reviews. Arici's work is conserved at the Communication Study Centre and Archives at the University of Parma.
